In spring 2000, American Folk Artist Barbara Chiantia lost her battle against cancer.
Although her artistic journey has ended, her art lives on in its many forms, including fine art prints, home accessories, wall murals and book illustrations.
Barbara's landscapes and country scenes grew out of a city girl's imagination. As a child in New York City, Barbara dreamed of the country and started to paint and sell her work when she was 14. A self-taught artist in the long-time tradition of American Folk Art, she painted most often in oils or acrylics on old boards and furniture.
During her lifetime, Barbara gave and received great pleasure from sharing her art. Although she worked full-time as a freelance artist, she also enjoyed other creative endeavors such as composing poetry and cultivating her herb garden.
