David Carter Brown View David Carter Brown's Art Prints The inspiration behind the work of artist and designer David Carter Brown has its roots in the spontaneous and whimsical character of American Decorative arts. David's passion for American design and decorative art has led him to design and paint textiles, wallcoverings, china,stationery,woodenware, and furniture. After attending Parson's School of Design in New York, David began his career as a designer for hand crafted and hand painted products. Despite years spent abroad, it was the American Folk Art styles viewed while traveling through the villages of New England's coast which inspired many of David's designs. Working in authentic materials, David imbues his work with the texture and patina of traditional folk art. His paintings range from serene landscapes and still lifes to the whimsical and familar subjects taken from folk art classics. Combing age-old techniques and natural materials with more current ones, he achieves a fresh approach which evokes a certain nostalgia and love for simpler times.
