A Native of Pennsylvania, Edward Szmyd first discovered his artistic ability at age nine when he was awarded first prize in a community art competition.
He was soon considered an artistic genius and in high school his teachers began to compete for the privilege of purchasing his watercolors, drawings and oil paintings. His free time was spent
studying various artist's works at Carnegie Museum.
Szymd began his career as a commercial artist in Florida. He worked nights perfecting his own paintings and finally made the decision to concentrate solely on
his career in fine art. Since that time, Szmyd has steadily progressed and is now considered a master of both light and color. His style relects his contant amazement at the beauty of the earth
and his sun-drenched landscapes, gardens, and radiant floral pieces have become his easily recognized trademark.
Szymd's work is highly sought after by collectors throughout the world. His originals which sold for $2,500 twenty years ago, are now in such high demand that they sell for as much as $60,000
Szymd's paintings are part of the permanent collection of the R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport, Louisiana, one of the outstanding private museums of the traditional school of art.
