Nancy Roberts View Nancy Robert's Art Prints Nancy Roberts became serious about painting at the age of 46, on an extended sojourn aboard a small sailboat. Her boat carried her through the Mediterranean and Europe's inland waterways where she sketched and fell in love with the landscape. When she tired of life on the water, she settled in northwest France where she has lived for over a decade. Here, Nancy began painting watercolors of neighboring stone houses and gardens, rolling fields of sunflowers and poppies, and beautiful orchards and chateaux. She found that her paintings were becoming increasingly popular with the local inhabitants as well as with a few wandering tourists. Nancy says a breakthrough for her was realizing that paintings "don't need to be all done in one go." She takes a lot of time on a painting, much of it just looking and planning the image in her head. She now shows her artwork from a gallery in her home in the French countryside.
